nscale for GroupWise: Technical Details

With nscale for GroupWise, Ceyoniq offers a powerful solution for archiving e-mails in Novell GroupWise in accordance with audit requirements.
Messages and attachments as well as appointments, jobs and telephone messages are archived outside the Novell GroupWise data memory via the integrated nscale Server.

nscale for GroupWise can be rapidly integrated into the existing Novell GroupWise structure. The lean architecture and centralized control and administration make nscale for GroupWise easy to manage and maintain. No further expansion of the infrastructure is required.
The archiving process removes the relevant data from the data memory of the Novell GroupWise server and puts it into the storage media of the assigned nscale server. This greatly reduces the data volume that needs to administered on the Novell GroupWise server.

The system is designed so that it can be totally integrated into the system environment as well as the Novell GroupWise application. Messages and attachments as well as appointments, notes, jobs and telephone messages are archived based on rules on the server. nscale for GroupWise monitors a selection of private folders via a user mailbox. It is therefore unnecessary to install it on the client. Only when restoring archived data is a plug-in installed on the client. A separate client is available for the integrated fulltext search.

Depending on your license, identical attachments are archived just once. Following a duplicate check (single instance procedure), messages with attachments are archived without changing them in the GroupWise system. All that remains is a stub document that contains all archive document IDs, a text extract of the message body as well as all meta-information of the message. The stub document serves as a link to the archived attachments.

nscale for GroupWise's concept of comprehensive integration into the user's applications allows users fast and convenient access to all stored information from the accustomed work environment. There is no need to change accustomed work practices. User acceptance is accordingly high.

When a user opens a message archived in this way, he can use hyperlinks that were attached to the original message to access the archived  attachments. When it is accessed, the nscale Server provides the relevant document from its document archive.
